Curiosity, applied
deliberately.
We explore emerging technologies, human-centered design, systems, and intelligence—not because we have all the answers, but because the future deserves thoughtful questions.
Why we explore
Client work teaches us what exists today. Research helps us understand what might exist tomorrow.
We maintain a research practice because meaningful innovation rarely comes from observation alone. It comes from experimentation, questioning assumptions, and remaining curious about the world around us.
Most of what we learn improves the work we deliver through our Design and Digital divisions. Some findings become publications, research notes, open-source tools, educational resources, or collaborations that reach beyond the studio.
We do not claim to be a research institution. We simply believe exploration is a responsibility for anyone helping build the future.
How knowledge moves
Knowledge should move outward, not stay trapped inside.
Through our work
Research informs the products, systems, and experiences we design and engineer every day.
Through publication
Research notes, case studies, papers, and long-form essays are shared through our journal and publication channels.
Through education
We contribute knowledge, tools, and resources that help students, educators, and builders continue learning.
Through open contribution
When appropriate, we release tools, experiments, and resources that benefit the wider community.
Supporting the next generation
The future of research doesn't belong solely to institutions.
It belongs to students, independent researchers, educators, and curious minds willing to ask difficult questions. Through grants, sponsorships, mentorship, and resource support, we aim to help promising ideas move forward.
We are particularly interested in work that improves accessibility, education, sustainability, intelligence, design, and human wellbeing. Not every proposal will receive support, but every proposal will be considered with care.
Apply for research support
For students, universities, and independent researchers.
Funding and support are granted based on a range of factors, and applying does not guarantee them. We review every submission and reach out only when we find a use case that aligns with our goals and mission and decide to move ahead — so please don't expect to hear from us unless we're interested. We read and genuinely appreciate every application.
Progress begins with a question.
Whether you're conducting research, exploring an idea, seeking collaboration, or building something ambitious, we'd love to hear what you're working on.
